Standing United: The Caribou, The Music, and The Fight for Alaska

Alaska is often called the "Last Frontier," but for the Caribou, it is a sacred homeland currently under siege. These majestic animals—specifically the Western Arctic and Porcupine herds—are facing an unprecedented crisis. From the melting permafrost to the industrial encroachment on their ancient calving grounds, the caribou are the "canaries in the coal mine" for our planet’s health.

Why the Caribou?

The caribou isn't just an animal; it is the heartbeat of the North. They undertake the longest land migration on Earth, a journey of resilience that has lasted for millennia. However, recent years have seen a heartbreaking decline:

The Numbers: The Western Arctic Herd has plummeted from nearly 500,000 in 2003 to roughly 164,000 today.

The Injustice: Proposed mining roads and oil drilling threaten to fragment their habitat, while "rain-on-snow" events caused by climate change are literally starving them by locking their food under impenetrable sheets of ice.

The Sound of Resistance: UnijitSlayer

I’ve always believed that music should do more than just exist—it should advocate. That is why I am so proud of what UnijitSlayer is doing with my tracks.

By weaving my music into a larger narrative of environmental justice, UnijitSlayer is transforming sound into a call for action. We aren't just making "tunes"; we are creating an auditory landscape that mirrors the urgency of the Alaskan wild. Through this collaboration, my music is being used to:

Amplify the Silence: Giving a voice to the wilderness that cannot speak for itself.

Stand in Solidarity: Supporting the Indigenous communities and activists who are on the front lines protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Expose the Injustice: Using art to highlight the disparity between corporate greed and ecological survival.

The injustice against Alaska’s environment is a global issue. When we protect the caribou, we protect the climate systems that regulate the entire world.

"Art doesn't change the world, but it changes consciousness. And changed consciousness is what moves mountains."
